ORANGEBURG — South Carolina State University alumni, friends and supporters gathered Saturday evening for the 2007 Scholarship Gala and Tribute to raise resources to support the university’s general scholarship fund.

The formal event in the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center on the S.C. State campus was followed by a concert by The Original Manhattans, featuring Gerald Alston and Blue Lovett.

At this year’s gala, S.C. State and its foundation also celebrated the achievements of students and young alumni.
