The deadline for high school administrators to nominate students for a $4,000 scholarship is almost here.

The New York Lottery’s Leaders of Tomorrow scholarships can be awarded to one graduating senior from every high school in the state.

Each school may nominate two students for the scholarship; one will be awarded at $1,000 each year for four years. The students must have at least a B average, be active in their community and plan to attend a New York-accredited college or trade school.

Lottery officials will show the nomination forms and student essays to a panelist of educators, who will select the winners from each school. The other students will be alternates.

Last year, 84 percent of public and private high schools submitted nominations for the scholarships; 1,119 were awarded.

Deadline this year is March 9. Nomination forms should be found in school offices.
