Win a scholarship and NI summer internship
February 27, 2007 - Posted in Education News, ScholarshipIt takes talent, skill, creativity and a little bit-or maybe a lot-of luck to design an ad that consumers respond to.
Pat Beck, owner of Pat Beck Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep; and Manuel C. Coppola, editor and publisher of the Nogales International, both said they believe there is undiscovered ad design talent in Santa Cruz County.
To find that talent, Beck and Coppola have agreed to co-sponsor an ad design contest open to Santa Cruz County full-time high school and college students ages 13-21 who are residents of the county.
The contest winner will receive a $500 scholarship from Pat Beck and a summer internship at the newspaper from the Nogales International.
The challenge is to design a bold but simple newspaper ad that gives readers a compelling reason to visit the Pat Beck dealership.
Here’s a hint that may help contestants design winning ads. Many studies have shown that consumers respond best to advertising that speaks to their emotions.
Each contestant may submit up to three full-page newspaper-size ads, 11 inches wide by 21 inches high, each mounted on poster board or foam core. Ads should include color graphics and, or photos, plus ad copy.
Deadline for ad design submissions is Friday, April 27 at 5 p.m. Ad submissions must be delivered to the Pat Beck dealership at 861 W. Mariposa Rd. in Nogales. Contest entry blank forms are available at the dealership.
Ad contest finalists will present their ad ideas to the ad contest scholarship committee during the week of May 14-18.
For more information, contact Pat Beck at (520) 281-2111.
Children of employees of Pat Beck and the Nogales International are not eligible to enter the ad design contest.
