Art scholarship available to local high school students
April 1st, 2007 - Posted in Education, ScholarshipFAIRFIELD COUNTY - All Fairfield County high school students are eligible to win a $1,000 art scholarship, a trip to Washington, D.C., and to have their artwork on display in the U.S. Capitol.
Students can enter the 24th Annual Congressional Art Competition until April 30. Four winners will be chosen from countywide competitions to enter the district competition. The overall winner takes all of the prizes.
“The art competition gives local students a chance to express themselves creatively and to be recognized for their talent,” said Sara Perkins, spokeswoman for Congressman Dave Hobson.
Students from Bloom-Carroll and Lancaster high schools have participated in the competition in the past and were finalists. A student from Pickerington High School won the competition in 2001.
All participants receive a certificate of participation, and ribbons will be given to the top four winners at the high school level, the county level and in the overall districtwide competition, Perkins said.
“It’s a great opportunity for local students,” Perkins said.
