Australia announces 2008 scholarship programme
April 13th, 2007 - Posted in Education, ScholarshipHA NOI - The Australian Ambassador to Viet Nam, Bill Tweddell, announced he will now be accepting applications from Vietnamese students to win a 2008 scholarship sponsored by the Australian government.
Tweddell made the remarks at a ceremony held in Ha Noi on Tuesday.
The initiative’s aim is to promote the sustainable development of education in the Asia-Pacific region.
Students in Viet Nam will receive grants based on their abilities, grades and extra-curricular activities. The honours include the Australian Leadership Award, the Australian Development Scholarship and the Endeavour Award Programme.
Students majoring in international commerce, public health, security and the environment have the best chance of winning a grant, said Tweddell.
In 2007, more than 240 Vietnamese students received a combined VND260 billion (US$16.25 million) to support further education thanks to the programme. — VNS
