Student Loan Network Announces First Quarter 2007 Scholarship Winners

April 24th, 2007 - Posted in Education, Scholarship, Student Loan

ScholarshipPoints.com, a free service from the Student Loan Network, has announced its first quarter scholarship winners. Chris Wendorf, University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, received the first-place scholarship of $1000; Jonald Allan Gonzalez, Brigham Young University - Hawaii, received the second-place $500 scholarship; and Helen Hawkey, University of Pittsburgh, took the third-place $250 scholarship. All three winners signed up at ScholarshipPoints.com and earned points by logging in, filling out surveys, referring friends, and more. Random drawings are held each quarter.

“ScholarshipPoints.com was designed with two goals in mind,” said Joe Cronin, president of the Student Loan Network. “We see what students go through to get to college, and we want to give back. And, we use surveys on the site to help understand students’ needs and general trends among the college-aged audience, allowing us to provide students with the widest variety of choices and options in paying for college.”

Wendorf, a senior in Business Administration, took first place in the scholarship drawing. “Since I pay for my own tuition and books I’m always short on money. This scholarship will help me out a lot.” For Gonzalez, an international student from the Philippines who returned to school after a nine-year absence, this scholarship is a welcome solution since he pays his own tuition. And Hawkey also works part time to help fund her education, making this scholarship much appreciated.

All scholarship funds awarded through ScholarshipPoints.com are dispersed directly to the winners’ schools. Visit www.ScholarshipPoints.com to sign up or to learn more.
