Food Lion stores from across Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, the Carolinas and Georgia are getting ready for a variety of events to raise funds for a new scholarship to assist the company’s associates and their dependents in attending Virginia Tech.

Cookouts, casual dress days, raffles and other activities at approximately 350 stores Saturday will raise funds to create the Food Lion LLC Memorial Scholarship, according to a press release. The total amount of funds collected will determine the scholarship awards.
