Rotary seeks candidates for Ambassadorial Scholarship

Rotary District 5190 is looking for candidates to award a one one-year Ambassadorial Scholarship for $26,000.

The Ambassadorial Scholarship is a program of the Rotary Foundation. The purpose of the scholarship is to support the mission of the foundation to further international understanding and world peace.

Eligibility: Applicants must have at least two years of university or college coursework, have proficiency in a second language and be sponsored by a Rotary Club of District 5190.

Type of scholarship: The Ambassadorial Scholarship is for one regular academic year in a foreign country. The country is chosen by the candidate with the approval of the Rotary Foundation.

Funding: Funding is provided to cover round-trip transportation, required fees for a normal course load, reasonable room and board and some educational supplies. The scholarship is capped at a maximum of $26,000.

Application deadline: For information to begin the application process contact the Fallon Rotary Club via Sue Sevon at sasy@phonewave.net or Jody Brown at jbrown@greatbasinbank.com Applications must be submitted to the local club on or before June 30. Applications will be reviewed and an applicant chosen by the local club to recommend to the Rotary District 5190 Scholarship Committee.

The successful applicant will be notified of the local club’s decision no later than July 20. Applications will be forwarded to the Rotary District 5190 Scholarship Committee no later than Aug. 1.
