Twenty-five students from rural Arizona were recently awarded the Rose Mofford Scholarship. The Governor Rose Mofford Scholarship Fund was established in 1997 to help students of high ability in rural Arizona start their college careers as well as memorialize the name and reputation of one of Arizona’s most prominent citizens. The fund was established at the Arizona Community Foundation with large gifts from the Basha family and the Steele Foundation, as well as many smaller gifts from friends and associates of the former governor.

The scholarship awards range between $2,500 and $5,000 per student. Each one-time award may be used for study in a degree or certification program at an institution of higher learning in Arizona. The selection committee, including the former governor, reviewed the applications and selected the recipients.
