House Passes College Loan Bill, Inviting Veto Threat

The House of Representatives has approved the College Cost Reduction Act, which will cut subsidies to lenders and limit loan interest for students. The White House has threatened to veto the legislation, saying it creates too much new spending and will hurt student borrowers in the long run.

College Cost Reduction Act

College is becoming more affordable for students with loans.
Legislature passed the College Cost Reduction Act today.
The 18-billion dollar investment will go towards student loan and Pell Grant aid for over five years. It is expected to save students and families thousands of dollars over the typical loan for a four-year-school.

Ohio college gets $4.5M grant from NJ foundation

The Bonner Foundation of Princeton, N.J., awarded Oberlin College a $4.5 million grant on Monday to continue a campus program begun 15 years ago to promote student service.
