Versant and German University Team Up to Grant Scholarship for Masters Degree in Computer Science

Versant today announced that it will grant a 2-year scholarship to a talented student pursuing a masters degree in computer science specializing in Databases/Information systems at Hamburg University in Germany. In launching the new “Versant Advanced Database Scholarship”, Versant, with its European Headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, and Hamburg University will jointly select a talented student for a scholarship each year. The recipient will receive 800 EUR per month and payment of tuition fees by Versant for the two year period following the award of the scholarship. Versant will further assist the scholarship recipient in helping to determine the Master’s thesis and providing a training program during school break in Versant’s Hamburg Research and Development department.

The new scholarship will be available commencing with the upcoming winter semester. In order to be eligible for the “Versant Advanced Database Scholarship,” candidates must be matriculated in the Masters Degree in Computer Sciences at Hamburg University and specializing in Databases / Distributed Information Systems, and will be required to obtain a letter of recommendation from the Commissioner of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Norbert Ritter. Versant, in collaboration with Hamburg University, will ultimately award the scholarship to a worthy student. For the winter semester 2007/2008, applications must be submitted no later than July 15, 2007.
