Over 175 scholarships were awarded at the Battle Creek Community Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Reception, which took place on May 24, 2007, at Kellogg Arena. These scholarships, including annual renewals on those awarded previously, total over $600,000! Scholarship selection criteria vary, depending on the donor’s interest; however, academic performance, financial need, and school/community/church involvement are the standard criteria. Committees composed of over 100 community volunteers participated in the scholarship review and selection process.

This year’s dynamic event included a video presentation of all the recipients and a performance by the Battle Creek Central drumline.

“We are proud of all of the scholarship recipients and wish them continued success in their educational pursuits,” stated Kimberly Holley, Senior Vice President of the Community Foundation. “It is because of the generosity of donors that our scholarship program continues to grow each year. People in this community have donated their resources to help local students continue their education. The combined effort makes a tremendous impact.”

The Scholarship Reception will air later this month on AccessVision. Check local listings for dates and times.
