Olivet College’s Ruth Rawlings Mott Auditorium will undergo an extensive renovation because of a $750,000 grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.

Located in the Charles Stewart Mott Academic Center at the college, the auditorium project includes replacing 400 seats, carpeting, ceiling tiles, lighting, stage and roof, as well as upgrading of technology, according to a news release.

The Mott Academic Center and its auditorium were built in 1967. The Mott Foundation provided a $2 million grant in 1964 toward the project. The auditorium is a focal point on campus and is used by students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members for classes, conferences, honor’s convocations, and performing arts and other events, a news release said.
