Culinary college announces $5 million grant for new facility

A $5 million grant will go toward creating a state-of-the-art learning facility on the Hyde Park campus of the Culinary Institute of America.

Thanks to a pledge from the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation, the new Marriott Pavilion will feature interactive audience response technologies and video-conferencing capabilities. It will house a large auditorium, a conference center with seminar rooms, and a theater-style demonstration kitchen.

Construction could be begin in a year’s time, said school officials.

Marriott family makes CIA history

“The Marriott family has been making history alongside the CIA for more than 40 years,” said CIA President Dr. Tim Ryan, in a press release. “Their support of scholarships, facilities, and educational programs has played a significant role in the CIA’s development as the world’s premier culinary college. This gift and the establishment of the Marriott Pavilion will further enhance the CIA student experience with world-class programs and events.”
