Scholarship to cast wider net for applicants

One UNC scholarship that requires applicants to show proof that they are “worthy sons” and of “colonial ancestry,” is undergoing some changes after giving scholarship officials headaches.
The John Osgood and Elizabeth Amis Cameron Blanchard Scholarship Fund will change from a renewable scholarship to a one-time gift with smaller benefits.

UNC-Greensboro has received a $1 million gift from 1943 graduate Carolyn Bason Long of Washington, D.C., which is creating a new scholarship that allows undergraduates to pursue studies in any of UNCG’s academic departments.

15 Georgian students to receive scholarship

Fifteen students enrolled in the mechanical techniques/marine engine mechanic program at Georgian College this fall will each receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Ontario Marine Operators Association (OMOA).

Rotarians present scholarship awards

The Rotary Club of Somerville and Bridgewater recently held its annual scholarship awards luncheon at the Bridgewater Manor.
Eight students from local schools were awarded scholarships totaling $15,000.

Tennessee’s Graduate Nursing Loan Forgiveness Program has reached its $1.4 million goal to fund nursing education in Tennessee.
