Conservation scholarship available
December 8, 2007 - Posted in ScholarshipHigh school seniors and college students alike who are interested in pursuing a career in natural resources are encouraged to apply for the Snake River Soil and Water Conservation District Natural Resources Scholarship is intended for students pursuing a career in natural resources or agriculture.
The scholarship will be awarded based on interest in natural resources.
The scholarship is intended for students who plan to pursue a career in natural resources or agriculture.
Recipients are required to serve as an Earth Team volunteer as part of this scholarship. Scholarships up to $1,500 may be awarded.
Applications are available at the Snake River SWCD office, 1441 Fillmore St., or by calling (208) 733-5380 ext. 123 for more information. Applications received by Jan. 1 will be considered for the Spring 2008 semester, those received before June 1st will be considered for the 2008-09 academic year.
Candidates may be interviewed by the selection committee.
The Snake River SWCD will make the final decision regarding the scholarship recipient.
Conservation districts are subdivisions of state government charged with the conservation of soil, water and related natural resources. A total of 51 conservation districts, encompassing 99 percent of the state, are working to protect Idaho’s soil and water resources.
The Snake River board of supervisors consists of Matt Nail, Rob Champlin, Dave Sommers, Brian Olmstead, Dave Ramseyer, Don Norris and associate supervisors Ron Jones and Roy Jesser.
